We are the authors of Little Yellow Barn. Two moms who like to get a little crazy in the best room of the house... THE GARAGE. We are friends who happen to also be neighbors that share ideas, painting tricks, recipes, how-to's etc. Become a fan, so we can share with you too.

My name is Jourdan.  My husband Jake and I have a 3 year old daughter named Jazelle.  Jake, a.k.a "the man", works as a project manager for a restoration company and is an extremely skilled carpenter... compliments to his father for being the master carpenter who taught him so many skills I will forever be grateful for. I am a student nurse and am less skilled but am very good at directing my own personal craftsman and imagining new ways to make the "old and busted" look like the "new hotness".  We live in Gilbert, AZ right around the corner from the lovely, talented and ever so sweet Ashley.  She is MY Shirley and I am her Lavern.  I absolutely love collaborating with her concerning different design ideas, how to make a home a home and mostly, how to keep the kids entertained, while we play with paint and power tools in the garage. Well, she does the power tool thing, I was banned from independent power tool usage.  Ashley and I share a dream, we both want to look out into our backyards and see a little YELLOW barn that will be our workshop/boutique, but for now the garages in our suburban adobes will do.  Follow us as we build our dream from scratch.

In case you don't know who Lavern and Shirley are... I'm disappointed. Also, I just gotta say... "schlemiel, schlimazel, hasenpferffer incorporated!"

--ASHLEY--

Hi I'm Ashley! I'm the wife of a BBQ chef and mommy of two beautiful kiddos, ages 4 and 2. I grew up in the country on a farm with parents who completely introduced me to the world of DO IT YOURSELF. We didn't call plumbers or contractors or anyone else, we worked hard (or at least they did! :)) and learned a lot. I started refinishing furniture about 4 years ago after receiving a bedroom set my husband wouldn't allow in the house :) After that I realized how much money we could save by buying old furniture and fixing it up to look "new". It turned into a huge hobby of mine and now I LOVE seeing the before and afters of furniture that would've been trashed otherwise. I always find myself skipping from blog to blog looking for new ideas and inspiration and wanted a place of my own to jot down my ideas and tips I've learned through my experience. My kids keep me pretty busy but I love having a hobby for my "me time". I LOVE learning new things and love helping you in any way I can. Jourdan and I have become attached at the blog hip and both have our unique talents to share with you. Help us out and share us with your friends as we try to build up our "Little Yellow Barn".
